Soldier Rahul Rajeev donates organs to seven people after brain death

Rahul Rajeev, a 30-year-old Indian Army soldier from Kollam, Kerala, has provided a new lease of life to seven individuals through organ donation following his declaration of brain death at a private hospital in Thiruvananthapuram.

Rajeev, who had served in Himachal Pradesh, had previously pledged his organs to the Kerala State Organ and Tissue Transplant Organisation (K-SOTTO). Upon his death, his family facilitated the donation process. His donated organs and tissues included kidneys, liver, heart valves, skin, and corneas.

The recipients include patients at Pushpagiri Medical College, Thiruvananthapuram Medical College, KIMSHEALTH Hospital, Sree Chitra Institute of Medical Sciences and Technology, and the Regional Institute of Ophthalmology. To ensure the timely transport of the organs, the Kerala Police established a ‘green corridor’ from Thiruvananthapuram to Tiruvalla.

Kerala Chief Minister V D Satheesan praised the soldier's selflessness and the family's decision, stating that Rajeev’s legacy of compassion would continue to inspire the people of Kerala.
