Law enforcement agencies in Mexico and Ecuador expand security operations

In Soledad de Graciano Sánchez, Mexico, the Municipal Civil Guard received 11 new RAM 1500 trucks and five Kawasaki KLR 650 motorcycles. The equipment, provided through coordination between Governor Ricardo Gallardo Cardona and Mayor Juan Manuel Navarro Muñiz, is intended to strengthen surveillance, prevention, and rapid response capabilities across the municipality.

In Ecuador, the National Police have conducted several operations to combat extortion and kidnapping. Between October 1 and October 3, 2026, six operations titled ‘Libertad’ resulted in the rescue of four individuals and the arrest of 15 people, including three minors, in the Guayas and Los Ríos provinces. Interior Minister John Reimberg reported that these interventions targeted criminal groups demanding significant sums of money, such as $30,000 and $50,000, from victims.

Additionally, the National Police in Quito incorporated 83 motorcycles and five trucks to enhance patrol capacity and response times in the capital. This deployment is part of the Quito Protection Plan, which aims to increase intelligence and preventive operations in the city.
