San Luis Potosí advances educational reforms and major rail project
San Luis Potosí Governor Ricardo Gallardo Cardona is advancing several state-level initiatives involving education and infrastructure. Mario Delgado Carrillo, head of the Secretariat of Public Education (SEP), has endorsed the state's educational policies, specifically praising the regulation of mobile device use in basic education schools and the ‘Apoyo Seguro al Estudiante’ program, which provides insurance for over 500,000 students.
In terms of infrastructure, Governor Gallardo announced the commencement of the Querétaro-San Luis Potosí-Saltillo passenger train project. The project, which is currently in the environmental consultation and planning phase, involves an estimated investment of 77 billion pesos. The rail line is expected to feature high-speed trains reaching up to 200 kilometers per hour, with strategic stations planned for municipalities including Villa de Reyes, San Luis Potosí capital, Moctezuma, Venado, Charcas, and Real de Catorce.
Additionally, the state government is planning a free metropolitan suburban train to facilitate daily commutes within the metropolitan area, connecting industrial zones with the city center and Tangamanga II Park.
