Mexico promotes cultural heritage through artisan support and regional fairs

Various Mexican states are implementing initiatives to support local culture and artisans. In Quintana Roo, Governor Mara Lezama Espinosa announced an investment of 2.4 million pesos to benefit 149 artisans, primarily women, through the 2026 Artisanal Commercial Impulse Program and a new professionalization program designed to improve workshops and market access.

In San Luis Potosí, the Feria Nacional Potosina (FENAPO) 2026 has seen significant activity. The first weekend recorded over 650,000 visitors with no major security incidents reported. Governor Ricardo Gallardo Cardona inaugurated the Artisanal Pavilion, which features 600 participants from 42 municipalities. The state aims to exceed 29 million pesos in sales through this event.

Additionally, the cultural heritage of Puebla was showcased in Mexico City through the ‘Los Estados en Los Pinos’ initiative. Approximately 400 cultural representatives presented traditional dances, music, gastronomy, and crafts to over 13,000 visitors.
