Coahuila Senator launches legislative youth program

In Coahuila, Senator Gabriel Elizondo Pérez has launched the ‘Semillero Legislativo’ program. The initiative aims to connect university students and civil society with the Senate of the Republic to generate legislative proposals and address public interest issues.

The program, coordinated with the Coahuila state government, invites students from various disciplines to participate in parliamentary work, debate, and the formulation of initiatives. Future stages of the project intend to incorporate representatives from the business, transport, and merchant sectors to ensure diverse regional voices are heard in the federal legislative agenda.

Separately, Clemente Castañeda, coordinator for Movimiento Ciudadano in the Senate, stated that his party is not seeking to recruit disillusioned members from Morena. He emphasized that Movimiento Ciudadano is pursuing its own political path for the 2027 elections and criticized current political activities for allegedly violating electoral timelines, calling on the National Electoral Institute (INE) to act as a strict arbiter.
