Solingen restaurant attacked by suspected left-wing extremists

The Alt Ketzberg restaurant in the Gräfrath district of Solingen was targeted in a violent attack involving stones and paint-filled bottles. The incident, which occurred overnight on a Monday, resulted in extensive damage, including broken windows, forcing the establishment to close temporarily.

Police and state security services are investigating the attack, which is suspected to have a left-wing extremist motive. An anonymous claim of responsibility was subsequently posted on the Indymedia platform, titled “Attack on AfD event location in Solingen!”. The perpetrators cited the hosting of Alternative for Germany (AfD) political events at the restaurant as the reason for the assault and threatened further attacks.

Local political figures, including CDU representative Rafael Sarlak, have condemned the incident as “brutal violence” and an attempt at intimidation. Sarlak emphasized that such actions target innocent employees and owners and undermine democratic coexistence.
