Solitary Islands Way designated for Pacific Highway stretch near Coffs Harbour

The section of the Pacific Highway between the Englands Road roundabout at North Boambee and the Korora interchange will be renamed “Solitary Islands Way”. The change will take effect after the new Coffs Harbour bypass opens later this year. The Australian and New South Wales governments are investing $2.2 billion in the bypass project.

Project Director Greg Nash said the name was chosen following extensive community consultation, noting the Solitary Islands are a prominent local natural feature and the name aligns with regional tourism promotion. The new road name will be registered with the Geographical Names Board of NSW, with a three‑month transition period for residents, businesses and service providers to update records.
