Solomon Islands establishes new Credit Reporting System

The Central Bank of Solomon Islands (CBSI) is establishing a new Credit Reporting System (CRS) through the Credit & Data Bureau Solomon Islands (CDBSI). This initiative is being implemented in accordance with the Credit Reporting Regulations to serve as a national financial infrastructure.

The system aims to improve access to credit and financial services, support faster lending decisions, and encourage responsible borrowing. By sharing accurate information, the CRS is intended to help customers with good repayment records build positive credit histories, reduce lending risks, and promote economic development and financial inclusion within the country.

As part of the implementation, participating financial institutions and authorized providers will upload existing customer data—including loan account details and repayment history—to establish the initial database. Under Regulation 11(5) of the Credit Reporting Regulations, consumer consent is not required for this initial submission of existing information for the purpose of establishing the database.
