Solomon Islands National Provident Fund marks 50 years

The Solomon Islands National Provident Fund (SINPF) is celebrating its 50th anniversary, marking five decades of service and investment. During the Golden Jubilee celebrations in Honiara, Minister for Finance and Treasury Rexon Ramofafia announced that SINPF members will receive a 5.5 percent crediting rate for the financial year ending June 30, 2026.

This rate represents a 2.5 percentage point decrease from the 8 percent rate recorded in the previous financial year. The interest, totaling more than SBD200 million, is expected to be credited to members’ retirement balances by September 30, 2026.

Minister Ramofafia also detailed plans for legislative reform to modernize the retirement fund. A new bill has been developed to help members grow their savings and address short-term financial needs. The government intends to present this legislation to Parliament to align the fund with broader economic policies aimed at strengthening national institutions and managing wealth responsibly.
