Solomon Tawiah fined for concrete spill on Madina-Adenta Highway

Solomon Tawiah, a driver for Betonsa Ghana Limited, has been convicted and fined by the Madina District Magistrate Court following a concrete spill on the Madina-Adenta Highway. The incident occurred on Saturday, September 5, 2026, near the Zongo Junction Traffic Light, when a Mercedes-Benz concrete mixer truck discharged a large quantity of material onto the road before leaving the scene.

Following an investigation by the Madina Divisional Police Command’s Motor Traffic and Transport Department (MTTD), Tawiah was traced to the company’s premises in Spintex. He pleaded guilty to three charges under the Road Traffic Regulations, 2012 (L. I. 2519), including placing construction materials on the road in a manner that caused danger to road users and obstructing an intersection or pedestrian crossing.

The court imposed a fine of 25 penalty units for each count, to be served consecutively. Tawiah has since paid the fines in full. The Ghana Police Service commended the public for providing information that aided the investigation and cautioned transport operators to exercise greater care to avoid creating road hazards.
