Soma B Thermal Power Plant auction scheduled to settle debt
The auction schedule has been set for the sale of the Soma B Thermal Power Plant, owned by Konya Şeker (TORKU), through foreclosure proceedings. The sale is being conducted to settle Konya Şeker’s debt to Türkiye Kömür İşletmeleri (TKİ), which exceeds 20 billion TL.
The auction process will consist of two stages. The first auction is scheduled for September 7, with results expected by September 14. If no sufficient bids are received during the first stage, a second auction will be held on September 30, with final results anticipated in the first half of October.
Expert appraisers have valued the power plant and its associated real estate at 13.8 billion TL, subject to a 20% VAT. All proceeds from the sale will be transferred directly to TKİ to recover outstanding debts related to coal purchases. Previous interest in the facility has been linked to companies such as Akçadağ Madencilik and ODAŞ.
