Somali forces kill 14 Al-Shabaab fighters in Bay region raid

Somali security forces killed 14 Al-Shabaab fighters during a military operation in the Bula Fulaay area of the Bay region on Saturday. The raid targeted militant positions used to coordinate and prepare attacks in the surrounding areas.

Elite Danab special forces, which receive U.S. training, led the operation to dismantle concealed bases. During the mission, military officials reported the recovery of a large quantity of weapons. This operation is part of a broader campaign by the Somali National Army to reduce Al-Shabaab’s influence in central and southern Somalia and to strengthen specialized domestic security units.

The strike follows recent instability in the region, including heavy clashes in Baidoa and previous attempts by militants to use vehicle-borne improvised explosive devices against government positions. The Somali Ministry of Defence stated that these operations will continue until the militant group is fully eradicated.
