Somali lawmaker warns against targeting former President Sharif’s residence
A Somali lawmaker and former senior official, Abdirahman Mohamed Hussein Odowaa, has called for the removal of security forces stationed near the Mogadishu residence of former President Sharif Sheikh Ahmed. Odowaa, who previously served as secretary-general of the Justice and Solidarity Party, warned that targeting political rivals could set a dangerous precedent for how leaders are treated in the future.
The demand follows rising tensions between Sharif and the National Intelligence and Security Agency (NISA). NISA has accused armed men acting under Sharif’s orders of attacking security personnel and using heavy weaponry in the Wadajir district. Sharif has denied these allegations.
