Somalia and University of Doha sign deal for new technology university

The Somali Ministry of Education, Culture and Higher Education and the University of Doha for Science and Technology (UDST) have signed a cooperation agreement to establish Somalia’s Technology University (TUS University).

The partnership aims to develop high-quality technical and vocational education through curriculum development, teacher training, and quality assurance. Key academic fields for the initial phase include Information Technology, Information Systems, Construction Engineering, Electric Power and Renewable Energy Engineering Technology, and Healthcare Management. Other focus areas mentioned include marine sciences, aviation, petroleum, and engineering.

This initiative is part of Somalia’s National Transformation Plan 2025–2029, designed to align educational skills with labor market needs. The agreement includes the creation of a joint, co-branded institute in Somalia to strengthen academic collaboration and professional skills among Somali youth.
