Somaliland seeks strategic axis with Greece, Cyprus, and Israel
The Republic of Somaliland has expressed a desire to join a new strategic axis spanning from the Eastern Mediterranean to the Red Sea. This proposed alliance would include Cyprus, Greece, and Israel.
Following Israel's official recognition of Somaliland, the administration has called upon Greece and Cyprus to follow suit. The initiative aims to establish a unified front of democratic maritime powers to secure the region, extending from the Mediterranean through the Red Sea to the strategic Bab el-Mandeb strait.
Somaliland officials have also raised concerns regarding Turkey, alleging that Ankara is utilizing the pro-Turkish government in Mogadishu to legitimize the recognition of the so-called Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus.
