Somerset takes 119-run lead over Sussex at Hove

In the Rothesay County Championship match at Hove, Somerset has established a 119-run lead over Sussex at the close of the second day. Somerset reached 167 for 2 in their second innings, following a first-innings total of 202.

Opener Tom Lammonby played a pivotal role, scoring 74 off 143 balls to help revive Somerset’s title challenge. Lammonby shared a 92-run opening partnership with Josh Thomas. Earlier, Sussex posted 250 in their first innings, bolstered by a 40-run last-wicket stand between John Simpson and Jaydev Unadkat.

Sussex’s second innings saw a significant collapse, losing seven wickets for just 61 runs. Tom Clark, who had scored 85 runs at a rapid pace, was dismissed by Craig Overton, triggering the decline. Overton finished the day with figures of 4 for 66.
