Somerset Women beat Essex Women by eight wickets in One Day Cup

Somerset Women secured an eight-wicket victory over Essex Women in the Metro Bank One Day Cup at Chelmsford. After winning the toss and electing to bowl, Somerset’s bowlers, led by Ellie Anderson (3 for 44) and Lola Harris (2 for 37), restricted Essex to a total of 266 for eight. Essex’s innings was bolstered by a 169-run partnership between Jodi Grewcock, who scored 87, and Sophia Smale, who contributed 83.

In response, Somerset openers Bex Odgers and Sophie Luff dominated the chase with a 223-run opening partnership. Luff scored 103 from 96 balls, while Odgers finished the match unbeaten with 133 from 124 balls. Somerset reached the target with 10.3 overs to spare, strengthening their qualification prospects.
