Somerton Adult Education named top program in Arizona

Somerton Adult Education has been ranked as the top adult education program in Arizona for the second consecutive year. According to an evaluation by the Arizona Department of Education, the center received the ‘Excelling Title II Adult Education Award for ESOL/IELCE’. This distinction recognizes outstanding performance in adult education services, specifically in English language instruction and academic skill development for students seeking educational and employment opportunities.

In addition to the institutional award, teachers Andrea Fletes, Claudia Rubio, and Jose Isla were recognized for their participation in the ARISE (Adult Reading Instruction Supported by Evidence) program. This year-long professional development project focuses on Evidence-Based Reading Instruction (EBRI) to enhance literacy teaching strategies in adult education classrooms.
