HONK! Fest Monster Mash Somerville marching bands community festivals

Somerville, Massachusetts, is hosting two community cultural events. The HONK! Festival takes place in Davis Square, featuring marching bands playing diverse genres such as Klezmer, Balkan, Brazilian samba, Afrobeat, and hip-hop. The festival is characterized by vibrant, maximalist costumes and a focus on reclaiming public space through music and visual expression.

Additionally, the city's Arts & Culture Division will host the annual Monster Mash on October 18 in Union Square. The event honors Somerville native Bobby “Boris” Pickett and includes a costume parade, pumpkin carving, face painting, and live music from performers such as the BosWitches and Proyecto Tempo.
