Somerville’s Nibble Kitchen Launches Immigrant and Women Chef Incubator

The City of Somerville’s Nibble Kitchen, located in Bow Market at Union Square, is running a summer program that rotates Peruvian, Guatemalan, and Ethiopian dishes prepared by immigrant and women entrepreneurs. The pop‑up space works as a restaurant and business incubator for the Nibble Culinary Entrepreneurship Program, which is managed by the city’s Arts & Culture Division.

Chefs receive kitchen access, business training, mentorship, and vending opportunities, and they can showcase their cuisines to diners. Mayor Jake Wilson highlighted the initiative as an investment in arts, culture and local talent. The program has already helped participants launch businesses such as Carolicious, a Venezuelan‑arepa shop now operating multiple locations.

The initiative aims to turn culinary traditions into sustainable food enterprises while offering the public a chance to taste globally inspired meals in a small, community‑focused setting.
