Somma Lombardo political tension follows Forza Italia resignation

The resignation of Gerardo Locurcio, former city coordinator and group leader for Forza Italia, has caused political tension within the center-right majority in Somma Lombardo. While Forza Italia representatives cited personal reasons for the departure, opposition members from the Democratic Party and Sinistra per Somma suggested political friction was the true cause.

Reports indicate internal disagreements involving the Rodari school project and tensions with Daniele Consonni, a Fratelli d’Italia representative and president of the city assembly. Simone Iametti has taken over as the new Forza Italia group leader, pledging continued support for Mayor Silvio Pezzotta’s administration.

During the recent city council session, Riccardo Rizzotto was formally seated as a new councilor to fill a vacancy. His entry received support from various political factions, marking a shift toward younger representation in the local administration.
