Somma Vesuviana’s Festa delle Lucerne 2026 Illuminates Historic Casamale

The Festa delle Lucerne will take place from 3 to 5 August 2026 in Somma Vesuviana, Campania. Every four years the medieval Casamale is transformed into a suspended‑time village lit by thousands of small flame lamps that symbolize the town’s history, memory and belonging.

Organisers have added accessibility measures: on 2 August selected lanes will be lit early for people with disabilities, the elderly and children. Entrance to the illuminated area will be managed with free numbered wristbands distributed at several points in the town.

The program includes guided tours, book presentations, creative workshops, exhibitions, excursions, cooking shows and activities for youngsters. The highlight on 5 August is the traditional procession of Maria Santissima della Neve, a spiritual and identity‑affirming rite that draws visitors from across the region.
