Somogy: Unlicensed driver injures friend during gear shift practice

A woman in Somogy County, Hungary, caused an accident while attempting to practice using a vehicle's gear shift without a driver's license. The individual, who was in her thirties, had requested instruction from a friend to prepare for future driving lessons.

While the friend was standing by the open driver-side door to explain the gears, the unlicensed driver released the brake and clutch pedals, causing the vehicle to roll backward suddenly with momentum. The car struck the friend with the open door before colliding with a waste container and a fence post. The injured person was transported to a hospital by emergency services.

Authorities noted that the driver had consumed alcohol prior to the incident. The Somogy County Police Headquarters has launched proceedings against the driver and issued a warning regarding the dangers of practicing driving without proper licensing, supervision, or sobriety. Police emphasized that driving instruction should only occur in professional driving schools under regulated conditions.
