Somos México expands structure in Chihuahua and Colima ahead of elections
The newly registered national party Somos México is strengthening its organization across Mexico as the 2027 elections approach. In Chihuahua, state leader Víctor Manuel Vega Pereira reported that the party now has municipal committees in Parral, Cuauhtémoc, Chihuahua, Delicias and Ciudad Juárez, with about 3,200 affiliates in the latter city. The party aims to have at least 35 % of its candidacies filled by people under 35 years old and is courting youth leaders, mentioning Julian LeBarón as a possible gubernatorial contender.
In the western state of Colima, state director Braulio Arreguín Acevedo announced the formation of municipal committees and reiterated the party’s origins in the Frente Cívico Nacional, a citizen movement that defended the autonomy of the INE and the Supreme Court. He emphasized that Somos México will prioritize internal unity, transparent candidate selection and will not use party positions for personal electoral ambitions.
