Somos party challenges revocation of registration in San Luis Potosí

The political party Somos has announced it will challenge a resolution by the State Electoral Tribunal in San Luis Potosí before the Monterrey Regional Chamber. The challenge follows the tribunal's decision to revoke the agreement for the party's registration with the local electoral body.

Xavier Nava Palacios, the state leader of Somos, accused the tribunal of obstructing political participation and preventing the party from accessing public funding. He contested the tribunal's reasoning, which cited alleged deficiencies in the party's notification address and missing documentation regarding the state executive committee—a matter he claims should have been handled by the National Electoral Institute (INE).

National leader Guadalupe Acosta Naranjo noted that the registration difficulties place Somos at a significant disadvantage compared to competitors. He highlighted a massive funding gap, estimating that Morena will have approximately 3.4 billion pesos available next year through national and local resources, while Somos will likely exceed only 300 million pesos. The party leadership also criticized the tribunal for suggesting the State Congress legislate on resource distribution for new parties.
