Somosierra platform brings fight for vulnerable neighborhoods law to Congress

The Somosierra platform is bringing its struggle to the Spanish Congress to advocate for a Comprehensive Law for Vulnerable Neighborhoods. Represented by three members, the community group will participate in a parliamentary session to discuss the integral transformation of these areas and the necessity of a new legal framework.

The proposed law, introduced by the Sumar Parliamentary Group, aims to address structural issues such as unemployment, material poverty, school failure, substandard housing, and deficits in public services. Advocates argue that current partial programs have failed to reverse these systemic problems, calling instead for coordinated intervention between the State, autonomous communities, and local councils involving direct resident participation.
