Son fatally stabs mother in public in Drobeta‑Turnu Severin, Romania

A 25‑year‑old man attacked his 50‑year‑old mother with a knife in the street and kitchen of Drobeta‑Turnu Severin, Mehedinţi County, Romania, in front of several witnesses. The victim had recently returned from working abroad and reportedly refused to give her son money for alcohol, triggering the violent confrontation.

Police apprehended the suspect shortly after he tried to flee. He tested positive for drug use and had a blood‑alcohol level of 0.58.
