Son La Province targets 8% economic growth for 2026

Son La Province is implementing new strategies to boost economic growth, aiming for an 8% target in 2026. During a recent review meeting, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Dinh Viet assessed growth scenarios for the third and fourth quarters.

Economic data shows that electricity production in the first half of the year reached 5.28 billion kWh, which was approximately 6.1% lower than projected. This shortfall contributed to a GRDP growth rate of 5.1% for the first six months, falling 0.92 percentage points below the initial plan.

To address these challenges, the province is focusing on several key sectors. In agriculture, officials aim to stabilize the output of fruit, coffee, tea, and livestock while strengthening supply chain links. In the industrial sector, there is an emphasis on supporting large enterprises, particularly in hydropower and agricultural processing, to ensure completed projects begin generating power by the fourth quarter.

Additionally, the province plans to accelerate public investment in transport and urban infrastructure, stimulate domestic consumption, and develop tourism in areas such as Moc Chau and Ta Xua.
