Son of Israeli Ambassador to US critically injured in West Bank car-ramming

A car-ramming attack near the Makabim checkpoint west of Ramallah in the West Bank has left an Israeli soldier seriously injured. The injured individual has been identified as Neria Leiter, the 40-year-old son of Yechiel Leiter, the Israeli Ambassador to the United States.

According to reports, the attacker drove a vehicle into a police patrol, causing critical injuries to one of the officers. Israeli security forces responded by shooting and killing the attacker. The Palestinian Ministry of Health reported that a 29-year-old Palestinian man, Mahmoud Mohammed Mahmoud Suleiman, was killed by Israeli forces during the incident near the village of Beit Ur al-Tahta.

Following the attack, Israeli forces tightened security measures and closed several checkpoints in the Ramallah and Al-Bireh governorates. Ambassador Yechiel Leiter shared on social media that his son is in critical condition and noted that Neria had recently returned to reserve duty following the death of his older brother in Gaza. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu also expressed support for the injured soldier.
