Son of Thanjai set for spring 2027 release
Ayelet Studio has announced that its upcoming action-adventure game, Son of Thanjai, is scheduled for release in spring 2027. The title was showcased during Gamescom 2026.
Set in 11th-century southern India, the open-world game is inspired by the Chola Empire. Players take on the role of Prince Vinnendhira, navigating political intrigue, betrayals, and foreign sabotage in the city of Thanjavur.
Gameplay features include stealth, infiltration, and combat inspired by the ancient Indian martial art Kalarippayattu. Players can utilize various weapons, including the Surulvaal, a flexible whip-like sword, and can ride animals such as horses and elephants. The game will be available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC, with availability on Game Pass.
