Sonam Kapoor debuts Pichwai-inspired fashion at Birdhichand event

Actor Sonam Kapoor has made her first public appearance following a postpartum sabbatical to attend a special unveiling of vintage pieces by Jaipur-based jeweler Birdhichand Ghanshyamdas at the Jio World Plaza in Mumbai.

Kapoor wore a black ensemble featuring a tussar georgette dupatta from Varanasi-based label Shanti Banaras, which was handcrafted over six weeks. The garment drew inspiration from traditional Pichwai paintings, incorporating motifs such as dancing gopikas, peacocks, and architectural details like minarets and gumbazes using fine resham threads and gold zari.

Her look was styled by Rhea Kapoor and complemented by Birdhichand Ghanshyamdas jewelry. The jewelry featured a Mughal-inspired choker set in 24-carat gold using the heritage jadai technique, centered around a 10-carat uncut diamond. The ensemble also included earrings inspired by the traditional bugadi piercing styles of Maharashtra and Karnataka.
