Sonam Wangchuk: CJP protest nearly collapsed after police action

Climate activist Sonam Wangchuk has revealed that the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) protest at Jantar Mantar in New Delhi nearly collapsed following a police crackdown on July 20. The action, which involved dismantling the protest stage, left the CJP leadership deeply demoralized.

Wangchuk stated that the leadership initially considered ending the agitation and requested that he draft a message advising protesters to return home and rest. Although the message was prepared, it was never posted. The movement only regained momentum when young protesters returned to the site, reviving the morale of the leadership.
