Sonbhadra police dismantle interstate cannabis smuggling gang

Under ‘Operation Shuddhi’, a joint team comprising the Robertsganj Police and the SOG/Surveillance Team dismantled an interstate cannabis smuggling gang in Sonbhadra, Uttar Pradesh.

Following a tip-off, authorities intercepted a black Kia vehicle without license plates near the Lodhi Toll Plaza. The police apprehended three suspects who attempted to flee the scene. Upon searching the vehicle, officers recovered 86 kilograms of illegal cannabis, estimated to be worth ₹43 lakh, which was being transported from Odisha to Varanasi.

In addition to the narcotics, the police seized the vehicle, valued at approximately ₹12 lakh, three Android mobile phones, and ₹680 in cash.
