Sondershausen B4 collision damages vehicle but leaves driver unharmed
On 25 July 2026 at around 07:05 am, a 30‑year‑old truck driver travelling north‑bound on Bundesstraße 4 near Sondershausen lost the side tool‑box of his vehicle because it was not properly secured. A large key set fell onto the road and was hit by a 55‑year‑old driver of a small transport van coming from the opposite direction. The debris struck the front of the van, a rod pierced the vehicle’s body, but the driver escaped injury and was able to keep his lane.
Police reported the incident caused about €7,500 in damage to the van. The truck driver is expected to receive an administrative offence notice for insufficient load securing.
