Sondrio hosts cultural and gastronomic events highlighting local heritage

Cultural and gastronomic events are highlighting the heritage of the Sondrio province in Italy.

In Sondrio, Confindustria Lecco e Sondrio is hosting “Il menù dei Promessi Sposi” on October 7. The event features author Mauro Rossetto, director of the Manzonian Museum of Lecco, discussing how Alessandro Manzoni’s literary work serves as a historical record for material culture and food history. The presentation aims to connect Manzoni’s thought with local culinary traditions and linguistic heritage.

Additionally, the Bresaola della Valtellina IGP will be featured at the 119th Mostra del Bitto in Morbegno on October 17 and 18. The Bresaola della Valtellina IGP sector represents a significant economic force, with 11,900 tons produced in 2025 and a consumption value of 502 million euros, marking a 4.6% increase from the previous year. Chef Romeo Landi will perform two showcookings to demonstrate the versatility of the product, including recipes such as risotto with Valtellina Casera DOP.
