Soner Yalçın defends himself in Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality case

Journalist Soner Yalçın has delivered his defense in the ongoing Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (IBB) case at the Silivri courthouse. Yalçın argued that there is no connection between the charges in the indictment and concrete evidence.

During his testimony, Yalçın referenced Franz Kafka’s ‘The Trial’ and criticized the judicial process, stating that a defense loses its meaning if the outcome is predetermined and the truth is not being weighed. He claimed that modern falsehoods no longer merely embellish the truth but attempt to replace it entirely.

Following the court proceedings, Yalçın’s defense statements were adapted into a musical piece titled ‘Gün ve Hakikat’ (Day and Truth) by DJ Devrim, which emphasizes themes of justice and historical record.
