Song Mino to re-enlist after military service violation conviction
Song Mino, a member of the K-pop group WINNER, will undergo re-enlistment for social service following a finalized court ruling regarding violations of the Military Service Act. The singer was sentenced to one year in prison, suspended for two years, after being found to have been absent from his post without authorization for a total of 102 days between March 2023 and December 2024.
The Military Manpower Administration confirmed it is currently reviewing procedures to determine the exact duration and the specific agency where he will complete his service. According to regulations, social service agents who leave their posts without justification must extend their service by the number of days missed.
During the trial, it was noted that Song had struggled with health issues, including panic disorder and bipolar disorder, which the court considered as mitigating factors. Song issued a handwritten apology via social media, expressing regret for his irresponsible choices and stating his intention to faithfully fulfill his remaining obligations.
