Songshan Airport: Woman dies after collapsing during security check
A 66-year-old woman died after collapsing while passing through security at Taipei Songshan Airport on September 26. The woman, identified by the surname Chen, was preparing for a solo trip to Tokyo, Japan.
Security personnel immediately performed CPR and used an Automated External Defibrillator (AED) to attempt resuscitation. A Japanese traveler with medical expertise also assisted on-site. Despite emergency medical intervention, the woman was pronounced dead after being transported to the hospital. Family members noted she had a history of hypertension, though the exact cause of death is still being determined.
Medical professionals have used the incident to highlight that symptoms of cardiac emergencies do not always manifest as chest pain. Experts note that indigestion, stomach bloating, throat discomfort, or stiffness in the left shoulder blade can be warning signs of myocardial infarction or aortic dissection, particularly in patients with high blood pressure.
