Sonia Gandhi calls Nitish Kumar a ‘traitor’ during CWC meeting
Internal disagreements surfaced within the Congress party during a Congress Working Committee (CWC) meeting regarding Nitish Kumar’s departure from the INDIA opposition bloc. Senior leader Digvijaya Singh expressed regret over the exit, suggesting that the political landscape would have been different had the Janata Dal (United) chief remained in the alliance.
Sonia Gandhi countered this view, reportedly calling Kumar a ‘traitor’ and stating that it was fortunate he left when he did, as he had allegedly been seeking ways to exit the alliance for some time. Congress President Mallikार्जुन Kharge added that Kumar was looking for excuses to leave the opposition coalition.
In response to these remarks, JDU leader and Union Minister Lalan Singh dismissed the comments, stating that Nitish Kumar does not need a ‘certificate’ from Sonia Gandhi and that his twenty-year record of service in Bihar speaks for itself. Singh also alleged that the INDIA bloc had previously blocked Kumar’s proposals regarding a caste-based census.
