Sonia Gandhi debuts on social media to preview upcoming memoir

Sonia Gandhi, chairperson of the Congress Parliamentary Party, has made her debut on social media platforms Instagram and X. To mark her digital entry, she shared a first look at her upcoming memoir, ‘Belonging: A Journey of Love’, which is scheduled for release on November 10.

In her posts, Gandhi shared personal recollections of her relationship with former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi, describing how they first met in 1965 at a Greek restaurant in Cambridge, England. She noted that his gentle nature made an immediate impression on her.

The 544-page memoir is expected to cover significant milestones of her life, including her childhood in post-war Italy, her marriage to Rajiv Gandhi in 1968, and her eventual entry into Indian politics. The book also addresses profound personal tragedies, such as the assassinations of her husband and mother-in-law, Indira Gandhi.

While the international edition will be published by Alfred A. Knopf, HarperCollins India has secured the rights for the Indian publication following reports of a previous publishing dispute involving Penguin Random House India.
