Sonia Gandhi debuts on X, previews upcoming memoir
Sonia Gandhi, Chairperson of the Congress Parliamentary Party, has made her official debut on the social media platform X. In her first post, she shared a video recalling her 1965 meeting with the late former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi at a Greek restaurant called The Varsity in Cambridge, England.
The post serves as a preview for her forthcoming memoir, ‘Belonging: A Journey of Love’, which is scheduled for release on November 10. In the video, Gandhi reflects on her student days in England, noting that her search for familiar cuisine led her to the restaurant where a mutual friend introduced her to Rajiv Gandhi.
She described her first impression of Rajiv Gandhi as being struck by his gentle nature, stating, “He was a very gentle-looking person. Of course, he was very good-looking, but that gentleness came through.” The memoir is expected to cover her personal journey from her childhood in Italy to her life and political career in India.
