Sonia Gandhi, chairperson of the Congress Parliamentary Party, met Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) chief Lalu Prasad Yadav at the Delhi residence of his daughter, MP Misa Bharti, on Monday. The meeting was held to enquire about Yadav's health as he undergoes medical consultations at AIIMS following treatment in Patna.
During the visit, the leaders reminisced about the United Progressive Alliance (UPA) era. They discussed the implementation of welfare legislations such as the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MGNREGA), the Right to Education (RTE) Act, and the Right to Information (RTI) Act. Tejashwi Yadav, the Leader of the Opposition in Bihar, noted that under the leadership of former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, the UPA government allocated over Rs 1.45 lakh crore for the development of Bihar.
Tejashwi Yadav stated that the meeting followed his own conversation with Gandhi the previous day, noting that she expressed a personal desire to visit his father. He highlighted the long-standing political bond and mutual support shared between Gandhi and Yadav during difficult political periods.
