Sonia Rolland presents Rwanda-themed film in La Baule

Actress Sonia Rolland will appear at the Gulf Stream cinema in La Baule on Monday, October 26, for a preview of the film ‘Kwibuka, se souvenir’. Directed by Jonas d’Adesky, the film explores the memory of the 1994 Tutsi genocide in Rwanda.

Rolland portrays Lia, a professional basketball player who returns to Rwanda to join the national team. The character’s journey mirrors Rolland’s own history; born in Kigali to a French father and Rwandan mother, Rolland fled the country at age nine during the genocide. The film follows Lia as she confronts her past and searches for a brother she believed was deceased.

The movie, which has screened at various festivals including Kigali and Brussels, is scheduled for a national release on November 4.
