Sonic Healthcare reports $8 bn revenue as Cochlear posts strong profit and cash‑rich balance sheet

Sonic Healthcare announced FY2023 group revenue of over 8 billion Australian dollars, driven by low‑double‑digit growth in routine laboratory tests and a stable pathology segment. Despite competitive pressure, the company maintained its operating margin and increased after‑tax profit compared with the prior year.

Cochlear Ltd, the Australian hearing‑implant maker, said its annual revenue reached $2.236 billion with a gross margin of 74.9%. Net profit was $357 million, and the firm reported a net cash position of $270 million, giving it a negative net‑debt figure. The debt‑to‑equity ratio stood at 13.2% and return on equity remained solid, indicating strong financial health despite a 57% drop in its share price year‑to‑date.
