Sonic Team head expresses interest in Sonic Mania developer reunion
Takashi Iizuka, head of Sonic Team, has expressed interest in a potential future collaboration with the developers behind the hit game Sonic Mania. In an interview with Game Informer, Iizuka noted that while there are currently no active projects in development involving the team, the relationship remains strong.
Iizuka stated that the parties maintain close contact and continue to meet socially. He mentioned that the Sonic Mania team is currently focused on their own various projects and business needs. Although a sequel is not currently in development, Iizuka indicated that a reunion is not off the table, stating, ‘there’s definitely a desire to want to work with them again, and we think they could make a great game.’
