Sonida Senior Living shifts focus to growth and scale

Sonida Senior Living is transitioning its operational focus toward growth and scale following its acquisition of CNL Healthcare Properties. This move has established the Dallas-based company as a $3.5 billion platform, encompassing 164 senior communities that the firm owns, manages, or invests in.

CEO Brandon Ribar indicated that the company is targeting newer communities across various senior living product types and currently has $88 million in acquisitions under contract. The company reported a weighted average occupancy of 87.9% for the second quarter of 2026, a 240-basis point increase from the previous year.

In terms of institutional activity, Royal Bank of Canada increased its stake in Sonida Senior Living during the first quarter, bringing its total holdings to 27,051 shares. Other institutional investors, including Capital Advisors Ltd. LLC and Darwin Wealth Management LLC, also recently established or increased positions in the company.
