Sonipat: Pitbull attacks and critically injures six-month-old infant
A six-month-old infant was critically injured following a Pitbull attack in Sikka Colony, Sonipat, Haryana. The incident, which was captured on CCTV, occurred while the child was being carried by an aunt. The dog lunged at the pair, causing them to fall, and proceeded to grab the infant in its mouth and drag the child along the road.
The child sustained severe injuries to the face, abdomen, and limbs, requiring emergency surgery for intestinal protrusion. The infant is currently receiving treatment at the Post Graduate Institute of Medical Sciences (PGIMS) in Rohtak and is reported to be in stable condition.
The attack has sparked local panic and renewed debates regarding the safety of keeping aggressive breeds like Pitbulls in residential areas. While the family has not yet filed a formal police complaint, residents have raised concerns regarding the owner's responsibility and adherence to pet safety regulations. The child's grandmother noted that the owner has refused to cover medical expenses.
