Sonoff and Homematic IP launch new smart home security camera solutions

New developments in the smart home security market show a trend toward specialized hardware and integrated ecosystems. Sonoff has unveiled the CAM GlassView (model CAM-S3W) at IFA Berlin, a 2K window camera designed to be placed against glass. This design aims to solve the common issue of infrared light reflecting off windows during night vision, allowing users to monitor the exterior from inside without complex installations or monthly subscriptions.

Simultaneously, Homematic IP is expanding its smart home ecosystem by launching an integrated alarm system supported by six new connected cameras. The product range includes indoor models with motion detection and person recognition, as well as outdoor options featuring wired and battery-powered versions. A recent application update centralizes security functions, such as live video feeds and alarm modes, into a single dashboard. Like Sonoff, Homematic IP is positioning itself against major competitors by offering solutions that do not require monthly cloud storage subscriptions.
