Sonora advances construction of IMSS University Hospital simulation center
Construction of the Clinical and Surgical Excellence Simulation Center at the IMSS Sonora University Hospital has reached 25 percent completion. The project involves an investment of 145 million pesos and is being promoted by Governor Alfonso Durazo Montaño with support from President Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo.
The facility is designed to allow doctors, nurses, residents, and medical students to practice and refine their skills in a controlled environment using clinical simulation tools and virtual reality to recreate complex medical and surgical scenarios. The infrastructure will include specialty consultation rooms, stabilization and shock areas, delivery rooms, operating rooms, a mixing center, hospitalization spaces, and multipurpose rooms.
This project is part of the conversion of the former General Hospital into the IMSS Sonora University Hospital. It is expected to potentially impact 49,583 healthcare workers, including physicians, nurses, residents, interns, and students.
