Sonora advances student mobility program to Taiwan

The Government of Sonora is advancing the third generation of the ‘Talento Sonorense Rumbo a Taiwán’ program. Through memorandums of understanding signed by the Council for the Sustainable Development of the State of Sonora (Codeso) and local universities, the initiative aims to train specialized human capital in strategic sectors.

Targeted fields of study include semiconductors, electromobility, industrial automation, and clean energy. This academic mobility program is part of the ‘Plan Sonora para Energías Sostenibles,’ designed to prepare local talent for the technological demands and high-tech industrial expansions occurring in the region.

Guillermo Ernesto Portillo Sepúlveda, an electronics engineering student from the Instituto Tecnológico de Sonora (ITSON), recently completed a ten-month academic stay at the Southern Taiwan University of Science and Technology. His studies focused on artificial intelligence, smart cities, and semiconductor manufacturing, providing practical experience in Taiwan’s advanced industrial landscape.
